#61888, "walbro pump sounding strange lately"

i installed the walbro 225 pump about three months ago. The humming sound at the time was faint and didn't bother me. The whine has gotten worse in the last month. After driving for over a hour or so straight in mix city/highway traffic the whine gets really loud. loud enough for people in the next car to hear and look over at me. the whine is louder than my engine and exhaust. I have not had any problems with fuel delivery to the engine. It still runs within it's normal af range. has anyone else had this problem. Can it be fixed or do i need to replace the pump. The car does need a minor tune up (plugs) but i replace the fuel filter 30k or so ago. any help would be great.

Josh

i knew it would make a whine when i installed it. But it only gets louder the longer it's running. I can hear it 30' away from my car when i stop and get out after driving it for an hour or so.

I really believe that they are so loud because they are not made for our cars, and part of them touches metal inside the tank and resonates.
mine whines sometimes and is pretty quiet other times. I also think that they get louder with a lower battery voltage, like when you are at idle with an underdrive pulley, or with headlights on.
