#6184, "What Stage 1 kit should I get and what else do I need that doesn't come w/ kit?"
Aiight now that u guys have convinced me to get a turbo kit rather then GST or Cyclone swap what kit is better: Star, Hahn or HRC? I have only seen Star kit on a car in person so Im leaning towards Star. What else do I need to get that doesn't come w/ Stage 1 kit? I have been told I dont need a new clutch so all Im getting besides what comes w/ kit is BOV (turboXS I liked on my friends GST Sypder and its cheap or Blitz for a little more $) along w/ a Blitz turbo timer. I also have Blitz body kit so Im looking into getting all Blitz and getting a discount inlcuding intercooler in future. If anyone here thinks Stage 1 Star is not the way to go, or if I need more shit besides kit please let me know. Thanks

Well I think there both good kits, however what you have to look at is down the road. What are your realistic goals with the car. I personaly think the Star kit or possibly the new Ner kit in the end would be the wiser choice. The T3/T4 turbo will out perfrom the HRC mitsu 16G in top end performance. At boost levels' around 7-15psi..the difference wouldn't be as noteable.. It will really start to outshine the 16G at boost levels above 18psi. (fully built bottom end and some nice race fuel) For a true comparison a 20G would be a more appropriate canidate In my opinion, when boost levels reach those higher numbers. However, if you don't think your going to want to get into full race (not boost over 14ish) mode I think They are both good canidates. From posts i've seen like this in the past eveyone individual loves there particular turbo kit..rather it be HRC or star....so it all comes down to what you want. I say go with the larger turbo for the option of more power later without having to switch from the 16G to the larger 20G.

I like the hrc because more moderate-size turbo and more "personal" i guess company. Although the star is better value, has complete downpipe, external wategate. But i think hrc has better manifold (don't quote me) just throwing some things up, you basically gotta research and decide for yourself

Run a search in the archives in theturbo section and the engine section. They are both KILLER kits. They can both make very fast cars. Do the research and you still won't know which one to get.
