#61812, "Headers for street use?"

Most people say that headers don't do much on our cars, but the tuning guide (stage2) on this site says that they will noticeably increase low end power, mostly useful on the street.

Is it worth the money for street use? I'm also thinking about getting the AFX race computer right now, but I'm worried about:

1. it's increased rev limiter
2. it's interaction with nitrous
3. it's performance increase with limited mods.

I also have the sme questions. it seems like the headers arnt realy worth buying, are our stock headers well designed? they say that the afx computer is ok with n2o but not for turbo, for detonation reasons. Cant n20 cause detonation just the same? there is a lot of confusion on this subject no-one ever comesout with a straight answer. And to answer your last question yes a header will help with nitrous, but not so much w/out n2o.

Well, if I drop $400 is on the AFX race computer, and get 10hp, that's not that bad, but I'm worried about the increased rev limiter.

I also have a similar question what about N2O and the Apexi SAFC??? Are they useable together??? I saw in the power pages in Import Tuner they installed a Greddy Stainless Steel header and the increase in HP was like +.4 and the torque was like +2.7 ... From that I would say you could find a better use for $400 some dollars...

Gary from Howell said the AFX ecu should work with nitrous and turbo, but I'm not sure if he's correct. The afx advances timing, so with the issue of raising the rev limiter, I dont think that would be a problem.

Just as a note, every dyno I've seen of a header install on our cars has provided at least 5 horsepower and increased the area under the curve. Just get one off of ebay for less.
