#61686, "can crane #12s cause my car to run rich?"
like the subject says, when I pull off sometimes now there's a puff of black smoke. sometimes I smell a bit of gas, and it also might be flooding just a bit when I start it up cold... the RPMs don't rev up as high and it feels a bit flooded 'till I tap the throttle and it clears the congestion. I don't have one of them superAFC things, or any fuel pressure gizmo. I guess a slight drop in fuel milage isn't a frikking big deal, but is that kinda normal for it to run richer now?

I don't know for sure, but the cams make the valves stay open longer, allowing more fuel in. The extra fuel lines the cylinder walls. I don't know if you get on it or not for the black smoke to come out, but it probably is the cams. As usual, I could be wrong, I've never actually seen the inside of a motor, just sat down and figured out how stuff works. Correct me if I'm wrong anybody. - Josh
