I BELIEVE they are the same. Except fot the intake manafold. Neons have SOHC's and DOHC's as well. Im not sure about any other differences.

exact same block. only diffs are cyl head, intake manifold, transmission. the throttlebody core is even the same, minus the shaft/guts. i have a 55mm neon tb core converted over with the eclipse guts.

The blocks are the same. The 2000 up Neon 2.0 block will work also and it is 4 pounds lighter.
