#61600, "Poll question: ARD 57mm TB VS. AFX 55mm TB...which would be the best for performance"

I have a chance to get a good deal on the ARD 57mm...I know that the optimum for our engine is 55mm though...would the extra 2mm hurt or help out that much? Don't suppose there are any DYNO's out there comparing the two...is there? Thanx for voting and helpin' a brotha' out!!!

I'd go with the MP 60mm TB...but since you mentioned about a hook-up I'd probably go with the ARD 57mm...I hear some bad things about AFX services...and besides, if you got the MP 60mm TB, whenever you decide to do the P&P Intake mani, obviously you get the biggest gains with more flow.

I had Howell bore out my TB to 55mm. I was very pleased with the quality of the work and the turn around time. Took approx 1.5 weeks to get it back to my door. Think if your gonna stay NA, then go with Howell and save 40-50 bucks...if forced induction is in your plans, bigger is better!

55mm TB, CAI, Magnaflow muffler, CFDF Clutch, Symborski Shift Kit, MSD 8.5mm wires, NGKs

Coming Soon:
- P&P Intake Manifold
- AFX UDP

Bigger is not always better. You need to look at the air flow numbers. Here is a sizing formula. http://www.howellautomotive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=222

I have 57mm mm tb from ARD and honestly, it doesn't look that much bigger then the stock tb. 2mm is like the width of a fingernail if even.

Both tbs will bore out that hump the stock tb has which will increase airflow.

Arguing about 2mm is just not worth it.

I will say that if you're planning to do turbo later, go with the larger one. Turbos just react better to mods, so that extra 2mm will make a difference.

I got it I got it!!! I am just waiting to get out of this stupid class so I can go down and get a new TB gasket, so I can slap this baby on!!! I'm also thinking of sending it somewhere to get it powder coated too (along with a VC), to match my intake...it's just a thought for now. I really just want to put it on a feel the difference!!!

hmm now wouldn't it be better to have a taper though? its there to increase intake velocity. I think that's something you'd want probably wouldn't be as important on a turbo engine though. but yeh like a 60mm tapered hehe. or screw 1 tb just go for itbs emoji
