#61317, "$150 for a header install???????"

hey guys. i went to buschur today and asked about a header install. they took a look at it and said they could do it no problem. then they said it would be $150 to do it. 3 hours it would take them. is this worth it or should i look around for a cheaper price? i know if i have buschur do it, it will be done right and i probably won't have to worry about anything wrong happening but $150 seemed kinda steep. let me know what you think.
thanks

There's a million cheap and dirty exhaust shops that will do it for you around here. If you have any out your direction, go for it. There's not much they can really mess up.

Yeah if you got time and wrenches have at it. my father inlaw and I put mine in. It helps to have an extra pair of hands. The hardest part is getting all the freakin heat shields of emoji I would really give it a try before dropping any more money.

Hell man I live in Sandusky(Cedar Point for the non-map readers)I've probably seen you at a Woop-Ass, or test and tune at NRP. I didnt use a torque wrench(I didnt have specs)just tightened till I was comfortable no leaks. I went in a crossing pattern like mounting a wheel. If I wasnt working to jobs I would take the time to help sorry ma emoji . Being broke sux! But if your ever in Port Clinton on a friday or saturday night come to Mr. Ed's Bar and grill I'm a bouncer there.

Dude, do it yourself. FasterGS and I swapped manis, he got my stocker, I got his Greddy, it took about 1.5 hours and that included letting the car cool off after a 2.5 hour drive to his place. Easy, and definitely will save you $150 and help you learn that much more about your car.

hah I can take a turbo system off in 2 hours that's a lot more work than a header also. I could probably install a header in like an hour then again those heatshields are a bitch.

do it yourself its not that difficult. Just try not to break bolts and if your still running that crappy fiber composite exhuast manifold gasket chuck it and get a MLS one or copper. Make sure you clean the gasket mating surfaces with a gasket scraper or one of dem scotchbrite pads.

the torque is really small also like 13 ft/lbs, so just don't tighten it a lot. I suggest studding the head, those bolts have a tendency to pop out and studding it solves that problem.

haha I know this stuff well I can't believe I used to do hecka stupid stuff like no cleaning gaskets or not using a torque wrench and hella torquing the bolts down. O_o
