Alright...

So the inevitable rodknock has hit my 96’ 420a.
So im going the smart route or what I think is smart. Im getting a jdm motor with 25 thousand miles on it for 1250$. But I figured as long as im doing all this bitch ass work of dropping in a new motor, there’s no way im gona drop in a stock motor. So I took the liberty of these choice mods, 4-2-1 Header, AEM Cams, CAI , cat back ex, unorthodox racing pulleys. HERES MY QUESTION. I am ordering cam shafts this week and I have no clue what company would be best to go with. So far the only one I found that makes cam shafts for a 420a is web cam (http://www.webcamshafts.com/) . Now seems a little pricey, and I want to check out my other options. I want a mild cam to go with those mods, would any of you have any good info or suggestions???

Thanks…

There is no such thing as a JDM 420A. The 420A is a DODGE motor. All the Euro and JDM 2GNT Eclipses have a NT 4g63 in them. You can't put a 4g63 in your car.

ya 1G's can have the NT 4G63 in them too... A 420a is as American as the camaro. Crower makes good cams for the 420a.so does crane. You'd probably want to go with a # 14 or #16...they don't make your idle BAD......what is bad anyway......and if you get 20 ponies outta them than who cares about a stinking idle IMO.

You can buy cams from Crower direct. Crane's from Howell, and others.

I have Crower 2's and the idle is lumpy but not bad at all. This is from a previous set up, not my current one, which has porting polishing so some fuel adjustment has been needed.

I do suggest an S-AFC to tune with cams, with the changes in vacuum the ability to change fuel and MAP reading is nice, if not essential depending on how far you go with the set up.
