#61226, "Oil presure sensor going out or is it the pump????"
Alright guys, I just got done with a rebuild with forged piston. I was out l8t last night and car was doing fine. Runs great, no problems whatsoever. So I start it up today and the damn oil light is on after it gets warmed up. But it is flickering. Im like WTF. Is my oil pump going out or is it the sensor? I don't have a Oil Pressure gauge. Engine makes absloutly NO sounds at all. It is nice and quiet. Also when Im cruising at like 2500 rpm it starts flickering too. But as soon as I give it any throttle it goes away. In fact it comes on strong at idle, then I give it just a touch of gas and it goes away. What do ya think. Im not going to drive it anymore till I find out. I really don't want to pull the oil pan to check the rod berings but I will if I have too. The damn oil pump is a 4hr job and it would take a freaking week to get one from howell. Anyone had this problem too???????

Only true way to tell is to hook up a pressure gauge. Its a good thing to have anyway, so i'd go get one hooked up asap. Low oil pressure is nothing to play around with..I have Autometer's mechanical gauge, and it works great. Its only like 35 bucks or so..

whoo hoo looks lke the sensor is crap! check it out. This is after about 20 min of idle. Car is pleanty warmed up. O yea I am running 10-30 wt oil. When I rev it up the pressure goes to about 70-75
