What kind of power would I be looking at if I had the following done to my 420A:

CAI
Header/hi-flow cat/2.5" catback
APEXi SAFC
AEM Cam gears
#16 cams
PnP head
bored intake manifold/or aftermarket venom manifold
60 mm tb
afx underdrive pulley
oversized titanium valves/springs/retainers
forged pistons bored .30/new rings
Complete MSD ignition w/ wires and all the goodies

What would you guys estimate the power at the wheels and at the crank would be?

Havent the slightest, a dyno would be the only way to say, every car is different.

Why titanium valves and springs? Seems a bit much seeing the head flows well as it is. And if you do plan to get the venom intake, get some numbers before and after you put it on. Most say it does nothing. emoji

well i was just wondering if expecting over 200 hp at the crank was unreasonable? how much power can u hold in a 420A without usin forced induction? I would think i would be near 220-225 hp with that setup would i not?

Yeah compression is going to make or brake your goals. You will need to go w/ a high comp piston, or mill the head down a few thou. I wouldnt use the venom intake without boost and even low boost. The mani is set up for drag racing conditions for about 18psi or more. The plenum volume is just too big. I would just port or have ported the stock manifold. I would really have an engine shop that deals w/ the 420A pick the cam, piston, and valve combo so the lift of the cam doesn't slam the valves into the pistons.

mm with dyno tuning u might be looking at 180 crank... unless u go high compression those #16 cams won't do near as good of a job. If your having alot of problems with your engine right now that can affect those numbers, but definately build your head. Our head flows great but we are known to get lifter tick, the eaton lifters and crane springs are a good start on a built head. As far as the polishing on the head goes it won't net u that huge of number if you plan to stay n/a. our head flows great stock. good luck with your tuning!

It would probably be a little better than 180 at the crank. I thought VX100 put out close to 170 at the crank and he uses the stock exhaust (with a gst muffler) and only #10 cams if i'm not mistaken.

What I noticed about the Power Stages in the Sections part of the site is that those estimated hp gains at the wheels seem to be a lot more than people claim you get with all those things done. Are the estimated gains at the wheels of the power stages section accurate? If so that setup would seem to give a good deal of power. I am actually looking at a pretty damn similar setup myself with a few more things here and there.

You would not be disappointed if you went that route imo. I have only done the 10.5:1 CR bottom end and I love it. For the price of a Venom mani (which I've heard is generally useless too), you could get your OEM mani ExtrudeHoned while you're rebuilding the engine.

Don't overlook things like tighter clutch. I've got the PT Cruiser modular in my car and it feels much different and clamps signifigantly higher which is noticable. Also, the requisite UDP will help put more of that 170-180 to the wheels.

I don't know if anyone here is currently running the #16 cams. If so, I would like to hear how their car runs. Consensus is that they are the best for NA power, but most people seem to only be running the #10s or Crower 2's. Makes me a bit curious.

I think that if you go with those mods, also including the UDP, a 60mm TB, and some decent A/F tuning on a dyno with those cams, you should be pretty darn close to the 200 mark. In any event, you'll be giving some GST owners a scare when you take 'em off the line and they have to pull harder.

ALL MOTOR OWNZ JOO! Plus it costs more! emoji

I'm pretty sure your exaust tubing is already 2.5 so instead of catback with your set up I would just get a GST muffler.

Stock exhaust is 2" on both the turbo and non turbo cars.
