#60553, "I think im having a problem here."

My car has never really gave me to much problems besides that time i blew my transmission .. but now when ever i get on her off the line or give her at least 1/2 throttle on a low speed turn i hear what sounds like a heavy metallic rattle sound. What could this be ? im not looking for an answer just some suggestions so i know where to look.

very first thing I would check would be the placement of the aluminum heat sheilding above your exhaust. that can make the loudest noise inside the cab, and it sounds like it is coming from up front somewhere.

also (if you have stock exhaust pipes) check the sheilding around those.

i always thought it was something in the trans... like if the rpms are low and you give it gas it will do that (for me), well, before the trans rebuild, now it does it very slightly

Look into the cat, could be the internals of teh cat rattling around and then creating a good amount of backpressure to overcome on launch.

isnt the heat shield ... the cat could possibly be it .. im fearing its a mount though due to the area of the sound ... ill bring her into the shop ... after i tap around the cat of course ...while im down there ill check the mounts .. engine and trans .. im betting its the trans mounts again ... emoji

if youve done a final drive gear swap, if its around the drivers side wheel well, im pretty sure thats what its going to be. did you loctite the bolts?

my gears were occassionally making a little chatter a while back, opened her up and re-torqued the bolts and everything is fine now. just a thought.

ok the the rattle is without a doubt coming from either the cat or the exaust system itself ....

thats what im thinking ... i did damage the cat sheild awhile back... ive tapped at it and it didnt rattle .... the sound itself comes from what feels like the dead center of the car ... so im assuming that ... or worse my trans is going .... which is a blessing ... than ill swap it over and lose some more weight and put more power down emoji than everyones happy

- its without a doubt not the CV joint that was changed on sept 11th 2001 ... ( i took the day off .. and avoided being in manhattan than day emoji )during that recall we had ...

- no final drive ...
