When Im driving sometimes I shift into neutral when slowing down..like when going over train tracks for example...well when I shift back into second and tap the gas I hear this deep deep poping sound like a thump..Im not exactly sure what it is but I hear it every now and then and its at the worst times so I dont catch it enough to figure it out as well..anyone else have this?..is it the engine backfireing? or what

with my exhaust the way it is, open all the way back...while the car is decelerating through 3K down to 2K there is a slight pop pop popping coming from my exhaust.

Mine did it after I put my CAI in Too!!!...weird. When it happened I went to the shop and cleaned the injectors, checked plugs(still good) wires.....and it went away(for the most part) Once the injectors were clean I took her on a trip and got 850km on a tank!!!! It was noticably smoother and accelerated hard again!........to say the least, mine still does it occasionally like 2 times a month but its annoying... Does anyone have any friggen technical terms for this.........I'm runnin outta gas.....
Gnight

I hate to bring up an old thread, but this sounds to me like it could be a worn out engine mount or the mount on the tranny could be broken, letting the engine rotate too much when you put it back in gear and start going.
