Where can I get the button plug for the Idle port on the manifold? Where can I buy one?

Oh and also, is it a 1/2" on the 97's?

go to the local car parts store and ask for a button plug about that size then go home and silicone the plug into your manifold, bam your done with that. Have fun finding new bolts for the tb, i had to order mine in from lowes.

I got my button plug at a local hardware store, i beleive my 99 had a 1/2". Make sure it is as flat as possible (plastic ones work best). If I had my time back and the right hole tap I would tap that port and put a 1/2" bolt into it and either cut the head off or use one without a head (excuse the non technical lingo). This way you gaurentee a good vacuum seal and dont run the risk of having it get sucked into the manifold (IMO).

As for new bolts I managed to get everything I needed at a local hardware shop that had a descent selection of machine bolts.

i had a hell of a time getting that plug in...i dont remember which size i used, but i think they were 3/8 and 1/2...i bought both...the 1/2 i think was too big and the 3/8 was too small...i think i ended up using the 3/8 and hitting it with a ball pin hammer to get it to fit....it sucked, i was right in between those sizes...and i had bolts laying around my garage from other cars and shit....i got them to fit..

anyone know if a 96-present jeep throttle body is usable for the frankenstein job? if not, why?

So do I HAVE to get new bolts? And are we talkin about what holds on the butterfly plate or the ones that actually attach the tb to the manifold?

well from what i remember about doing this i dont think you HAVE to get new bolts....the only reason you need new ones is that they are a lot shorter i think and its hard to get a socket in there because its right up next to the throttle body itself..... you could try cutting two bolts down to the right length and then trying to sand the throttle body enought for them to fit, but just a pair of allen head bolts will work great..... and the butterfly does not need any new bolts...you reuse the ones from the 2gnt butterfly and it will work fine, be careful taking the bolts out though, they do strip and break easily...hope that helps

Size does matter. The stock 2gnt TB is 52mm. The throttle bodies for 90’s Jeep 4.0L I6 are 55-60mm. More air means more fuel means more POWAH!!! The good news is that the Jeep TB can be modified to fit on our cars.



The donor TB in this write-up is for a 91-95 Jeep Wrangler, Cherokee, or Grand Cherokee, but any TB from a 91-99 will work

so the throttle bodies from a 96-99 4.0 jeep are the same as the ones from the 91-95 jeeps. all the sensors are in the same position and have the same sensors?

I beleive you can use your old sensors from what I read.
