When I start my pt cruiser I hear this loud squeaky noise coming from the belt area, I'm not sure which belt is it but it's very loud, does anybody have any ideas? After I drive around for about 20 minutes it goes away...

you probably have a battery going dead....the noise could be comming from the alternator trying to work extra hard to recharge the battery...once the car is run for a while it doesnt have to work as hard.... do you have your lights, or a/c on when starting?...that can cause a lot of stress also.... check your powersteering fluids to make sure its filled but id guess its your battery/alternator...go to your local autoparts store and have them check those out...hope this helps

it might the battery thing because pt's come with shity little batteries and the lights somtimes flicker when I put it into drive and when I put the ac on

Try the easy sulution first retenmtion the belt. Then look into alternator and battery. A bad battery will never squeak.

If its a 2003 just take it to the dealer and let them fix it under warranty man. Take the easy way out. I would, unfortunately my aftermarket warranty is only good for another 1000 miles, and I know as soon as its gone some problems will rear their ugly head.

Connect a fluke meter to the battery while the car is off, the reading should be above 12v. Then start it and check again, the reading should be 13.5v+. If so your alt/bat are just fine. Check your fluids and replace your belts.

I wish it was that easy but I bought the car with a salvaged title because of a small fire under the passenger seat, so I don't have a warranty but I still get recalls done so it's all good. Thanks for the info guys
