some of you may have heard of 6.0. its a completely programable ecu replacement. the 6.0 modules were barbarick, (very hard to use and tune). but there is a semi-new mod out now, the 7.0 and this think kicks ass. windows compadable, easy to understand. i know only because i work for mr gasket, aka accel. and we produce the gen 7.0 . i am in the tech and devolopement department of this product. but as i am fairly new to this company i'm not THAT familiar with the 7.0 and i was just wondering if any dsm guys such as myself has used this product with any success like the v8 guys that i know of have.

It's been out for a while. Not that new.

I use a Gen 6 on my 2GNT, it's neither barbaric nor hard to tune. The Gen 7 is a much nicer unit, granted, but the Gen 6 is still a very capable management system.

Right now, they're just too expensive for anyone but the most serious people to purchase for use on these cars. I don't know anyone with a Gen 7 on a 2gnt currently.

The Gen 7 is much closer to a stand alone as far as what can be controlled and programmed than any of it's predicessors. A nicec unit, definately not a cheap one though.

Well, even the Gen 6 can be used as a standalone on a 2gnt if you really wanted to. You just have to buy the timing wheel for it, which would likely double the amoutn of wiring involved, and probably triple the tuning time. Using the Gen 6 for fuel only gives you a much quicker turnaround time between install and having the car back out on the road.

Dino can you explain how or what a timing wheel is or the necessary step in installing the DFI ; I got a DFI 6 in a box and I want to try to install it as a stand alone. I was told I need a distributor and an ignition box. How hard is it to install now if I just wanted it to control fuel.
I prolly wont do this until I get my new engine and turbo kit in, but its good to know.

Trigger wheel and magnetic pick up (crank sensor) so the DFI can see timing, and know where TDC is so you can set timing off that.

in a few months i will be able to get the gen 7 for cost plust 20% which is hundreds of dollers less than what is sold to the public. even the ones that are sold to the public are first sold only to EMIC professionals then they are sold by them. i will let everyone know who is interested when i can get the employee discount. i need 3 months working for accel first. oh and i get a free on for my car just for working on them....nice huh.

and when i said barberic i ment that the average person could not operate it with out he help of a professional. and when refering to the 7.0 as new, yes it is new. not the 7.0 but the new version, 3.0. to run this you would need to upgrade your software from mrgasket.com with a free download and upgrade your hardware by sending the unit in to the shop and having it upgraded for about $150. and yes even though this is a high price item, i'm confident that this is the best investment for a natrualy asperated engine you can buy, that is except the beloved turbo charger.

HRC stage III.

Thats awesome news. I would have of rather gotten the 7 , but the price was too much for me at the time. Keep us posted; if it works out , I definatly get that and prolly keep the 6 for my 1G.
