Is it normal to have a rough edged crank, like some one sanded all the edges?

The crackshaft is not smooth. it's cast. Only the journals should be perfectly smooth, so if it's a journal, no that isn't normal, if it's a counterweight, sure, don't worry about it.

OK, good, it was just one of the counter weights. I guess I can reuse it then.

if u feel like balancing the motor sand all the counter weights down and remove the casting lines then have the crank balanced it will provide better aerodynamics when it spins..

i can elaborate alot of this it is also called knife edging by some people...

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.
If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.

For auto I wouldn't bother. Your only reving it up to 6500 RPM. You'd only be wasting your money. I didn't balance mine and she runs silky smooth all the way to shift.

Don't waste money and things you don't have to, especially if your going to boost.
