#58803, "Possibly spun bearing... or something else?"

Guess what? I think my car spun a bearing, too (many so far have). Here is the story. When my car idles I hear the knocking noise, or when I rev it so slightly its still there. But when I drive it around the block anything above 5 mph the knocking is gone and it runs just as good as the day I got it. And when I turn off the car the knocking gets really loud for a split second. I checked the oil and its full and it still looks good. Nothing wrong. I also checked the compression and got 210 across the board! So what is that noise?

well mine did the same thing... I read and did the heavy oil thing and it made the noise go away for a lil bit and then I completely spun it.. it sounds to me that it is a spun bearing, but not too bad, so maybe you can get away w/ just replacing the bearing right now before it gets too bad.. just remember everytime you hear that noise the worse you are makin it.. b/c if it gets much worse (if its not there already) you gotta take the whoel engine out.. but if I were you, I'd move the downpipe..drop the oil pan (easy stuff) and check the bottom of the pan for shavings and check the rods for movement, up and down movement not side to side and while you are down there replace the bearings, howell auto has them or any parts place really, special order of course, I recommend clevite bearings.. hit me back for more help.. g'luck and get this done soon, you odnt wanna have to rebuild your engine...peace

Guess what, I bent the number 2 rod and completely messed up the number two baring. But heres a coincidence. One of my friends is looking for an eclipse with a body kit and bad engine. That would be me. Hes paying me $4000 for the car to put his "bad azz" engine in it. So Friday I get rid of my car and off to buy another. But heres the funny part to the story. My cousin will sell his 1994 Integra LS to me for $2500. I'm able to make a $1500 profit. So heres the question, should I do this, or just rebuild the engine? I really like the integra ls but just don't know what others think of them. All input welcome!

Dude, you post here about selling your car and buying a honda? (I know it's an Acura but same shit different badge)

No one will think that's a good idea. If you have the money to rebuild your engine do that.

uhm are you REALLY making a profit? how much did you get your car for? You have to take that into account.

if you rebuild it can be done for say...1700 for a bad ass hi comp engine.

What year is your car? how much do you have invested? etc, but in the end its up to you.

I bought my 1995 Eclipse RS for $4000. I got to drive the integra and its a lot fater than my eclipse. Plus the integra has new rims and tires, clutch, and clear side marker lights. My cousin did this to try and sell the car faster, but so far I'm the only taker. Although a new high comp engine would be nice (keep in mind my car will still be slow, I'm an A/T), I would rather sell and by another car and get some money back.

If I was going to keep my Eclipse, how much power would I get over a a stock engine from a VT 2.0 rice killer engine? Keep in mind Im A/T.
I might just keep the Eclipse after all because the insurance is cheaper than an Integra.
