#58634, "Dropping Oilpan.....Do you HAVE to remove downpipe????"
I cant budge the screws on the downpipe to even take it off, lol, so i tried just sliding the oilpan towards the passengerside wheel. I had to take my ps/ac belt off and tried sliding it, but there is something sticking down inside the oilpan thats not letting me move further? Any way around this? TIA

I cant get none of these rusted downpipe bolts to even budge. Im not working with enough leverage under the car to budge those two bolts by the cat, and there aint enough room by the header and the downpipe to really get any leverage tehre either. 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 10th Anniversary OZ Edition Check Out My Site For Pix http://mywebpages.comcast.net/EclipseRaceR/MyEclipse/VIS%20CF%20Hood/

There some shit you can buy that you spray on the bolts that supposedly makes it easier to brake loose. I just use wd-40...whether or not it really works I dunno. Here is my process
Get under car try to break loose exhuast bolts get frustrated bang head on frame yell..curse..scream..throw things try to break loose exhuast bolts again get frustrated curse..yell..yeah... spray with wd-40 walk away...kick car... watch tv take nap try to break loose bolts again...works hooray

Reach up into the pan and remove the oil pickup tube. It is a single 10MM bolt. Once that is out, pull the tube down and drop it into the pan. Assemble in the reverse order. -=B-=

Any insights?

A messed up bearing will look galled (pitted). The crank will be blued or scratched if there is a problem. -=B-=
