#58595, "Size of intake ports at head??"

I am a newby on here but have been doing lots of research. I am getting a spare intake mani P&Ped. I have a 420a and the guy doing it for me is used to porting manis for 4g63s. Does anyone know if the size of the intake ports on the head of the 4g63 is the same as on the head of the 420as? Should I just tell him to gasket match it? I am afraid if he gasket matches it that it will be a larger opening than on the head and it will bouncing back into the mani. Ideally I would get the head P&Ped at the same time but not money or spare head to do this. I just want to see the most gains possible from the intake. He will be porting the upper part to 60mm to match the MP TBs. Any help on this would be awesome.

No, they're vastly different. The 4g63 intake ports are square. The 90-94 head ports on the 4g63 are much larger than the 420A ports, and the 95-99 head ports on the 4g63 are smaller than the 90-94's, but still larger than the 420A ports.

i suggest gasket matching it anyways then when later you can get your head ported...or just wait and get them done at the same time

Well I don't think I will be porting my head anytime soon or ever even. How much will I be reducing the gains from the porting intake mani if the runners to the head are ported a little larger than the head ports themselves? I it is gasket matched, it will be a little bit larger right?

If anyone could give me a mm by mm dimension of the head ports that would be enough to get the new port size close.

Go get a gasket and port match it to that.

Then when you get your head ready to port - port match it to the gasket as well.

Thats the easiest way to port match - to a gasket.
