Well I have a CEL on code 25, my car has idled at 2k rpm ever since I've owned it. I've replaced the IAC but I still have the CEL on and my car still idles at 2k rpms. Any ideas?

Sounds like a vaccum leak.

Do you think if it was it would set off the CEL too as being the IAC?

could, because if you have a vac leak, the computer thinks that the IAC isnt doing its job and throws a CEL

Yes I have, also its not a vaccum line. Still have the CEL though. Any ideas?

had the same problem about 3 weeks ago. changed the iac. no difference. changed the trottle body gasket. cleaned up the throttle body. replaced all vac hoses. finially i thought about the lower intake mani. that was it. the gasket decided to move a little and thats where my leak was. i believe i had cel 25 at the time also. so you might want to check that ou. just my 2cents..

My friends Talon TSi threw a IAC CEL and it was because there was a leak in the FPR vaccum hose.

Yeah sounds very much like a vacuum leak somewhere, start the investigation process. If not you could also look at it being a bad MAP sensor.

Well I'm gonna have to put this problem on hold until I fix a new more serious issue. I think I'll start a new thread on it.

Ok here is the current status. My belt broke again, so I was putting a new one on when the stupidly designed tension pulley bolt stripped its threads and broke on me. Luckily a friend of mine has a spare 420a laying around that he is giving to me that I pulled another pulley/bolt off of. Ok so I got it together and that works. Now the belt squeals everytime you crank the car when its cold. I don't think I have enough tension on the belt, well I tighted it up more and still have the squeal. Regardless if I tighten or loosen the belt's tension it still squeals. Any ideas on that one? Now back to the IAC motor, I took the new one back off and the plunger was sticking all the way out, so far as the plastic collar around it had a gap between it and the housing. So I took it back and got my money back. I still had the CEL, of course its still there. No vaccum leaks, and as far as I can tell no leaking intake gasket. I cleaned the throttle body out real good, unclogged the egr pipe going to the intake, still my car idles at 2k rpm, plus or minus a couple of hundred. What shall I do next?

see if you can borrow a boost/vacumm gauge, and hook it up. if its not around 16-18 Hg, then its a leak. if it is around there, then its not a vacumm leak.

Here's a weird off the wall one to check. Check your throttle cable djustment, If there is too much tension the throttle plate will never close fully and you'll never idle right.

Also check the TPS, if you pinch the O-Ring when install it, the sensor can catch and it will tell the ECU that the throttle plate isn't closed even when it is and also raise idle.

Ok I'm pretty sure now the IAC isn't the problem. I took the new one back and got a refund since it did no good. I put the original one back on there and now my CEL goes off for a while before it comes back on. So I'm confused. There are no vaccum or intake leaks, the butterfly on the TB is fine, plus I just cleaned it out completely. I can't hear any air leaks that I may not have found if there is one. One other thing, when the car does idle almost normal, like around 800rpm which it does with the A/C on, it sounds like its missing, or camming, its just rough all around. I haven't had the chance to find a vaccum gage and check that cuz I'm working on like 4 projects right now. And the belt still squeals. Another question, what is the length of the belt(PS and A/C) that DOES fit our cars. The belts EVERY auto parts stores try to sell me around here is way too short? So I am running a longer belt. I'm just going nuts trying to figure this stuff out, bad thing is its probably something so simple I've overlooked it, but knowing my luck its gonna cost me an arm and a leg, and probably some other miscellanious body parts. Any help you guys can give would be appericated, thanks alot.

Ok I finally checked vaccum with a gage, its sets at 16Hg. Is vaccum suppose to drop to 0 when you rev the engine? Anyway I replaced a few more vaccum lines, still the same. Its confusing....My brother's RX7 started to idle too low today so I took a 9mm wrench and adjusted it back where he liked it, all good. Too bad our cars aren't that easy. You guys got any more creative ideas?
