My alternator started arcing today when i was doing something under teh hood...sorta like a fucking grinder. i turned off the car and checked all teh connectiosn and nothing was making contact so i started it back up and all was well...is it close to going out?

An alternator that's going out doesn't arch, lol, it sounds like a major wire(s) shorting somewhere.

somthing else is seriously wrong. check for anything that may have fallen on the alt. and shorted it out.
