Basically took the stock front motor mount, cut out the center rubber section that holds the metal bushing piece. Then cleaned up the bushing of all the left over rubber till it was down to bare metal. Then cleaned up the edges of the motor mount down to bare metal. Then took the Energy Suspension motor mount insert washers, and got the zinc plating off of those, ready to be welded. Then just placed the washers on the motor mount, and they fit perfectly on it for welding. Once both washers were welded, took the bushing and welded that to the washers. Worked great! Not much of a difference in vibration really, but i can def feel the drive train more, and it just feels more solid througout. Couldn't get on it today cause it was raining, but i'll take er out and see if I can get it to wheel hop at all now Here are a few pics. Painted it red in the second pic..

that's some nice work. how does it feel when stopped? cause i would figure alot of vibration with solid mounts. But if it's not a street car i guess it doesn't matter.

I've got the run4cvr solid filled mounts and I only get bugged when I'm at the mall with the A/C on and my entire exhaust system rattles against the undercarriage.

Solid is good tho. I'm waiting for the day when a ricer says my car ratles. I figure I'd rather have a rattle from motor vibration that poorly installed subwoofers.

You know, going from the ES motor mount inserts, to the solid front mount, there really isn't much of a vibration increase. I was thinking it was going to shake to all hell, but its really not bad at all. I can def feel the drivetrain more, and it just feels more solid when driving. Idle vibration is almost the same, almost vibrates "smoother" in a way. Now if you go from a stock mount, to a solid mount, then it will be a big difference in feel. But i'm so used to the vibration anyway, so it was no big deal. I'm sure it would be worse too if i did a solid rear mount..

yeah i've got a solid front and rear and the rear makes it shake alot more. Its kind of like having a system now all the time i can see shit out of my mirrors anymore and everything in the car shakes but i've got uset to it
stage 4 clutch, aluminum flywheel, solid motor mounts, Phantom grip, phantom boost, egt, a/f, oil psi, apexi TT, Jeep TB, Star stage 2 with custom 3 inch downpipe out passenger side bumper, custom ground kit, flacon azenis, 2 inch drop, eibach camber kit, crank scrapper, and some other stuff

Aren't you guys afraid of breaking / fatiguing things?

I mean, would the factory dick around with 4 goofy rubber mounts, flex sections, clearances and all that just to improve ride comfort in a sports car?

Yeah, the rubber mounts are mostly for vibration dampening. There is no harm with the solid mounts. Its def more of a sports car feel now I like it.

Well I will be starting to make solid front motor mounts. I'm getting some steel, and going to make a prototype mount in the next few days. So keep a look out, and i'll be posting them for sale. NOt sure on price yet, just depends on how much labor is involved. BTW, AFX makes a solid front motor mount, that sells for 75.00 bucks. Mine will be close to half that if i can. Prob a stronger design too

As for a solid side mount, i can prob design one too, but i really dont know how essential those are really. If anyone has any input to how they perform, let me know.

Nice job on that motor mount. I have had the ES front and rear inserts for a while and they're ok - but that looks like a fun welding project. Maybe someday.
