#58117, "New Lifters and Rockers are in!"

Well I got my new lifers and rockers today from black dog motorsports. They were a sinch to put in using the screwdriver method. It is quieter but I stll can hear noise comming from the valvecover. I am clueless? also at highter rpms I and hear a rattle noise comming from the timing belt side of the motor.(I thought it was the lifters/rockers origionally) Any Ideas what that could be? The car seems to run better with the new parts. Better throttle response although this could all be in my head. You know how that goes. Also are the origional lifters supposed to have a hole on the top? If so mine were fucked.

Nope no hole in the originals.

Are ou sure it's not just the injectors ticking?

Its not the injectors ticking, it is more of just noise not tapping or ticking. Maybe it is just the forged pistons.?

Forged pistons making noise should go away once they warm up and expand, unless the machine shop went on the higher side for bore specs for clearance.

What else is done on the car?

My car is the same way. I always have a ticking noise that sounds like it's coming from the valve cover. I replaced my lifters too, but it didn't go away. I have come to the conclusion that it's just piston slap from the JE pistons. It hasn't affected performance and my rebuilt engine has 25,000 miles on it now, so I'm not really worried about it.

yah i had that same clicking noise and i just thought it was my lifters, till the clicking got about 20x louder one day nad i parked it, and bought a new engine, i took it apart last night / today and found i had 2 spun bearings one on the #1 cylinder and one on the #4 cylinder, also there was a chunk missing out of my #4 piston , so just hope it isnt a spun bearing, its annoyin and shit

Yea ive got the same noise coming from what sounds like inside the valve cover....like a slight knocking.......Its nto like i spun a bearing because i just rebuilt my engine because i spun a bearing in cylinder 3. It wasnt fun at all. Im figuring its just piston slap where i replaced the rings and everything. Hopefully thats what it is

Well it is deffinatly not a spun bearing.(not loud enough) I had my motor rebuilt by vt with je's and eagle rods ect.. My motor is turboed but I dont think that would make a difference. Im just mad because the motor is loud and I cannot hear the bov when I rev out of gear. I paid 270 for everything to my door from blackdogmotorsports.com (pt lifters and blackdogrockers)

well mine sounds like that also. Kind of like a low thump or growl. I'm assuming it's the piston slap also. I had my block bored to run with turbo and nitrous. I thought it was the Crane #16's I put in the engine. Now I read this post it must be piston slap.
