I have searched and searched becuase I know how beaten this topic is. I got the procarparts cold air and it didnt' come with directions. vfaq is down and I can't get a good picture of how its supposed to look. I got it all installed but it was only connected at the throttle body and the small nipple w/ tubing so it doesn't seem very sturdy.. I also started and drove it but it doesn't go past 4 thousand rpms so i dont know where the error is.. let me know your thoughts

I have the procarparts CAI installed on mine. You will need to cut out some of the bottom of the inner fender well (black plastic piece under the fuse box/airbox) to make enough room for the air filter to fit. A hacksaw makes quick work of it. Then just make sure that the mounting bracket thats welder on to the longer section of the intake tube is pointed towards the fusebox/airbox. Mine didnt reach all the way to the airbox, so I used the flimsy bar that they provide to bolt into the old part of the airbox. That should be about it for installation. BTW, I installed 3 clamps to hold the upper and lower sections together...seems to help keep everything lined up nicely. I'd post some pics but I'm too cheap to buy a digicam

you said that you bought a cold air right? so how many tubes, clamps, connectors did you get? And, I don't think you need to cut anything out also. there should be enough space to fit the cai pipe through the plastic tire wall thing.

i used to have the procarparts short ram intake back in the day. awful part. didn't come with anything helpful to install it - no brackets or anything. the only thing it was actually "bolted" to was the throttle body, and that was through a sillicon tuve. the metal used was about as thick as tin foil. in less than 3 months it got a hole right where it rubbed up against the battery tie down thingy. i duct taped it up and dealt with it until i finally got my turbo kit.

maybe the procarparts full CAI is a little different.

Yeah if its ran like the AEM CAI, you just place it in and you will see where the bracket can be bolted down. As for cutting, all you have to do is put the CAI in then bolt the filter on from under the car. Very easy and strait forward. If you don't like it, you can hit me up and I'll sell you our Grey AEM CAI when we get the V2.

There was no way to install this CAI on my 99 without cutting out part of the fenderwell. The bend at the bottom of the tube where the filter mounts to is not long enough. I could not get the filter securely onto the pipe with the plastic there. I know I saw other posts that support cutting the fenderwell too (do a search for ebay CAI or something).

Anyhow, for a $50 intake, you cant complain too much. It works a hell of a lot beter than the stock airbox, yea the quality is pretty shitty and the fit isn't perfect...but oh well...guess you get what you pay for

I have no probs with mine. It is on at no other point then the throttle body, and its definately wobbly, but not goin anywhere. You could always zip tie it to some random spot in the engine bay, as i have heard of others doing. As for only going to 4k rpm's....you shouldn't have any probs after installing a CAI. Try unhooking your battery for like half hour to reset the ECU, then take it for a spin. Good luck
