#57854, "Got a question about my car...."

Ok i just rebuilt the engine at 105k and now ive got 107k. I've noticed something though, it seems like it doesnt want to do more than 60mph or it feels like its going to blow up or something. I have the base model eclipse and i dont have a tach in it, but it seems like it revving really high in 5th gear and only doing 60-65mph. Someone said my timing could be off.....any help will get points lol

If it is reving really high in 5th gear and not accelerating, then it sounds to me like your clutch is slipping. Try putting the car in 4th, rev the car up good and dump the clutch. If the car bogs down, then your clutch is probably ok. If the rpms stay up but you arent accelerating, then you need a new clutch.

Thats wierd because the way you describe it I definately agree with Matt. If the engine revs up and the car doesn't go any faster then your clutch is slipping. Thats what it sounds like is happening right?

Just for kicks, try it again in 5th. Get the rpms to around 2 - 2.5k driving, then push in the clutch, floor it, and when the rpms reach around 5500-6000 just drop the clutch and keep the gas pedal to the floor.
