I've been trying to help my dad with a misfire in his 420A powered Neon, but I'm just baffled everytime I see this thing.

The timing belt is on the same side.
The valve cover is oriented the same.
The cam angle sensor is in the same place.

But the intake mani is in the front and the exhaust at the rear? Anyone have any insight?

Do theirs run the ignition of the intake cam? Are the cams just swapped from side to side?

Humor me with your knowledge of the 420A.

The cams are reversed, as is the head casting. The intake ports on both motors have cutouts for the injectors. The EGR is also on the exhaust side of the head for both, which puts them in different places. Same motor, though.

I figured something like that. It's just funky to look at the engine and have everything look normal, but then to think about it running the other direction. W3rd.
