My friend told me that his friend dropped a 6 Cyl. engine (don't know what kind tho) and racing mods in a 2g 98 Eclipse.

Now can you guys please answer me this:

-Is it possible to drop a 6 cyl. engine into a 98 GS?
-If it IS possible, can someone tell me what kindof engine?
-Can it burn Vipers, like is it possible after doing about 13,000$ worth of modifications?--> this punk says this car could, i mean i haven't seen this, nor do I trust him, but it's gotten me interested.

My friend told me this tonite, cause I was driving down on a parkway and I hit 115, but what was going through me head was... my car is slow. It's a stock 1998 GS. Thanks for reading.

yes it can be done, like a v6 stratus motor or whatever but i've been told they were all automatics. i'm not for sure on the transmission but i smell alot of shit going on. one of those things you'd have to see to believe.

I would be cheaper/easier to buy a nt 3000gt or 3g gt and then dump money into that, buy a turbo kit for the gt or better yet just buy a 3000 gt vr4.

Its poss, just grab the v6 out the avenger but i sure as hell woudnt they only come in auto

^^^ It looks like the v6 in the avengers but it isn't... my friend has a v6 avenger and the intake is not like that.... it has it in the same place we have it. In that pic it looks like the radiator hose is taking up that space. It could be a rearranged version of it tho.

thats the stratus motor, my friend has that motor in his car but itsd a startus, although motor mounts in his car look liek it should bolt right up, hmmm every swap i have seen was an auto......might be worth it to ppl to see if if a 5sp can b done cause i know of companies that make superchargers for those motors

at least the plenum and intake system

and don't think about a 5 speeds swap with those engines
we can't even do it in the Avenger/Sebring who already have the same engine
because the crank position sensor is not built into the engine but into the a604 tranny itself
making the swap impossible without either a new computer system or a new crank position sensor system

The Avenger/Sebring, etc have more room up front though, because of the fender fenders, hood, bumper and supports etc. so it may take some custom mounting, more than just switching to V-6 Avenger mounts. And there is of ocurse the rewiring to be done.

Hmm.. IO know ASOG guys have done an Eclipse front end conversion, i wonder if theyt were all 420A''s or any V-6 boys...

The first one to do it was a talon front end and it was a V6 Avenger
The car was stollen in a mall parking in Detroit and never seen again

I would say it would work then, at least with a 2.5L. Whether the 3.0L or 3.5L swaps would fit, is another story, hood clearance could easily become an issue, if not front frame support.
