I have a 99 gs(oz edition) with only a CAI with by-pass valve mod done to it. I have plans for turboing it in 1yr to 1yr and half. What mod should i do next? I was going with a cat-back but then read it shouldn't be a beginning mod. Then decided UDP and wider Throttle Body but don't know how wide i should get the TB? Can anyone help me out, even if i should go with a different mod for a second mod.

Personally i would go with the cat-back exhaust. You are going to need it when you go turbo. There are several write ups floating around here on how to do the jeep 60mm TB. Modern performance sells 60mm TBs. Or you can send yours to ARD and get it ported to like 57mm i beleive.

I'm with him, catback. It will increase your horsepower a good amount and also you will end up getting one anyway.

I dissagree with these guys. If you get a cat-back now you'll have to stay at 2.5" diameter or less for the sake of being NT. But if you are serious about going turbo you'll want to change that to 3" as soon as you do. So you'll be replacing that part as well.

I'd get the UDP or larger TB. Don't get the 60mm, most of the guys on here who can throw out mathematical equations and shit have proved it's not worth it. Stick with the 55 or 57.

great, then i'll go with the UDP and TB next. i was convinced on a catback, but knowing i'm going turbo it would be better with a 3in. my concern now, is installing the UDP and boreing out the TB myself or paying someone else to do it. i've never done any serious work on an engine and don't know if it would be safe to start now. if it does come down to paying someone would any mechanic be able to install the UDP or should i find someone who does performance work?

The UDP shouldn't be tough for you....might be a good place to get your feet wet for wrenching on your ride. The TB though I would defiently have a machine shop do that to make sure is smooth and perfect. But your down time with be a lot more with the boring...unless you by one and just swap them out. Which would be another good little project for ya:thumbsup
