we sell the shortblock, and heads. For the price of both, plus $200 for a metal head gasket and head studs, we can sell you a longblock.

420A SerialKiller engine : $2895.00
420A DomesticKiller Head : $2049.00
FTY 420A Steel Head Gasket: $ 99.00
ARP Head Studs : $ 99.00

Subtotal : $5142.00
Tax : $308.52
Total, no shipping : $5450.52

Shipping will be around $150 depending on where you live.
The 2.4l 420A SerialKiller requires some modification to your car to get it to fit. You need to modify one of the engine mounts, and shim the hood for clearance. You also need to modify the crank sensor a little bit, and do some other things that people have talked about. We'll have a write-up on our site soon.

SHORT BLOCK

You're a sick puppy alright. You want the baddest block you can squeeze into your 420A'd DSM. We stuff this puppy with some of the meanest parts we could get our hands on. You want options? we've got options! We stuff Eagle rods into this big 420A. Then, we Stuff your bores with CP Pistons. Want 8.8:1 compression? No problem! Want 10:1 pistons? Hey, we can do that too, since they're made just for your motor. We can get you any compression you want. After that, we dig you up a block (There's no core charge on this puppy) and a crank. We Hot tank, resurface, bore, honed (with a torque plate,) balance, blueprint, and assemble all these bad ass parts into one lean, mean 2.4 liter shortblock capable of withstanding anything you can throw at it. We also throw in JE Rings, Clevite bearings, a Melling oil pump, new front and rear mains. Please note that these blocks are custom in nature - we need to order custom rods, and pistons for this block, so it can take 8 weeks for us to receive everything to put this motor together. This motor required extensive modification to your eclipse to wedge it under the hood, so make sure you have an understanding of what you'll need to do with your car before ordering it. Cars that came with the 2.4L should be able to put this under their hoods without a problem.

HEAD

Our 420A DomesticKiller head is here to lay some smack down. We do all the same things we do to the 420A RiceKiller head, and then we have it ported by the same company that ports our 4g63 heads. The result? The ultimate flow, with Ferrea stainless valves, Crower springs, Crower titanium retainers, new OEM locks, and a set of Crane turbo cams to top it all off. If you ask nicely, we can special order another set of cams.

What do you guys think of this idea? Is it worth it?

with the block at that price there are things to improve on if i was gonna spend that much money i would ceramic and moly coated pistons and bearings coat the chambers with ceramic and a thermal barrier on the base of the head casting to keep heat out of the valve train

the top of the head and valve cover would get oil shed coatings and moly coatings on the cam jounrnals and id remove the balance shafts (im sure they do this but was not mentioned that i saw)

if u want me to lay out a 2.4 build for ya give me a call

the head price is reasonable depending if their port job is up to par with the 800$ port jobs from the top neon shops

im building a 2.4 pt block right now with ever option u can imagine and a very expensive turbo kit goal is to start out after tuned at about 550 to the wheels

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.

and MOTOFOOL builds some bad ass blocks, thats why he's building mine. emoji Hopefully i'll have it next week.

All of the engines sold by FTY are machined and built by VT. VT, as you probably know, does amazing machine work and builds awesome motors. The price for the 2.4 does include the balance shaft removal. We are also exploring many more possibilities for the 2.4 block at the moment. Remember, there is NO core charge for the 2.4. The block is included in the price.

As far as the quality of the head porting, you can rest assured that it will be top quality. The head will be ported by the same guy that VT uses for all of their motors (including their world famous 800+ HP honda motor). Obviously he uses a flow bench, and he's been doing this for a long long time. I might be able to get pictures of his work in the near future.

By the way, Brynden does have one mean motor, but we just discovered a way to make the 2.4 over a 2.7 emoji. We are also looking into using a 2.0 crank and going for a long rod block that redlines about when a crotch rocket would. More info will be coming soon...

Matt is really good frineds with them. And is in contact with them i would think on a daily bases. He use to live a couple mins away from them. I like the machine work vt did for me. It was top notch and they were fast and freindly.

I'm not on a payroll if thats what you mean, but I have worked extensively with them and will continue to do so because I enjoy it, I am good friends with them all, and I know that their work will be quite difficult to top.

The specs on that engine are a little off. I just noticed it, too. The engine is the same price, but comes with Pauter rods instead of Eagle rods. I don't know why I mislabeled them on the website. It's been fixed.

As for the pricing, I think it's very accurate and fair based on what you get. Custom pistons, and Custom Rods aren't cheap. You also get options on compression because of the custom pistons, who else lets you do that?

First off I didn't see a section for purchasing an assembled 2.4 block so I'll assume that they use JE pistons and Crower rods as shown. The CP pistons that FTY and VT use are a step up from JE. Also, the pauter rods that FTY and VT use are also a step up from crowers. Because they use these parts, they are able to offer any compression you want unlike you can with JEs and Crowers.

Second off, take a good look at their shop... not to diss them or anything, but I'm making a serious point. Here is their shop:

Now, here is VT's shop:

There is no comparrison. The tools that VT uses are also of the same quality. They use snap-on tools including a ridiculous gagillion dollar torque wrench that is as accurate as they come.

The one thing that I did notice that you could argue that would be better is the ceramic coatings. It will help in the case of extremely severe heat. BUT, generally speaking, this is unnessary to do with forged pistons. I could see it if you were sick and planning on running 30 lbs of boost with a 200 shot of N2O, but how many people really do that?? If you want all of those coatings, its not like we cant get them for you, because we certainly could have it done. It's just that it isn't necessary for what the vast majority of people are aiming to do, thus it just increases the price and serves no real purpose which makes it not economical.

I'm really not trying to be an ass at all here, but saying that you have a slightly better setup for less money is not entirely accurate if you ask me.

im not trying to be a ass at all here, but before you call someone out, do your research.

do you even know what my setup conisists of?
check it:

2.0 head

arp head stud
milled head
crane number 16 cams
crane springs
pt rockers
pt lifters
manley valves
tricked overbore on exhaust side
5 angle competition valve job
ported and polished
fidanza cam gears
head was glass beaded and tanked before assmebly
keep in mind that the ob valves are not too much more expensive than reg mans in price but expensive to install .

2.4 block

aluminum flywheel
pauter rods
weisco pistons
polished crank
clevite bearing set
blackdog tensioner
meiling oil pump
crank scrapper
windage tray
all new gaskets all around
boreing block .40 over
decked
blueprinted
balanced
new cam magnet
timing belt
completely assembled and ready to drop in

hes a level 5 HRC distributor, got my s16 upgraded to a s20g

completely assembled and ready to go 4???, im not debating who has the better engine, but do research before you speak on that topic. phatridz.com say they will duplicate my setup for 6100 bux. im simply telling that guy to explore his options before he hops on something he could have gotton better price wise, with the same or better quality. thats all

and bstockum hasnt updated his page in a while, hes built quite a few reputable street machines prowling the streets of va, and he has been in alot of mopar mags writeups and features. even though i have a slight discount, my setup is considered "wild", theres alot more tricks to the motor and turbo setup, that i will fail to mention. but, once again, all im saying is shop around, thas all, didnt mean to step on anyones toes.

Once again, I wasn't calling you out. You do have a sweet setup (almost identical to mine except for the 2.4), I'm not debating that. In that impressive list though, I don't see anything that VT wouldn't do. The only point that I was making is that it is quite difficult to compete with VT in terms of quality and reputation. They are a world class shop. They are in several magazines like Motor Trend that have been writing articles on how amazing their work is for years. They are the real deal. There is no way that the guy that built your motor could top VT's quality. The only reason I say that is because he does not have things like a state of the art C&C mill, a rotler hone, a dyno, etc in his garage. Now, maybe he sends his cores off to some amazing machine shop to do his work, but even so, the equipment that VT uses is the best, and the people that assemble the engines have been building world class race engines for 20+ years, so, logically, I personally don't think a person who works out of their garage will be able to top that.

Now, if he can beat their price, then thats cool, and he is a definate viable alternative to VT. The only thing about your post that I am debating its inaccuracy is the part that says that you have a "better quality" engine for less money.
>
>and bstockum hasnt updated his page in a while, hes built

Thats cool, I didn't know he is from VA. I just moved to Virginia Beach a few weeks ago. I'd love to check out his shop and introduce myself sometime. It's always fun to get together and talk cars with people who really know their stuff. I see that you are from VA as well... That's cool, I'd love to get together sometime and see your setup as well if you're up for it.

Agreed, I as well was not trying to step on anyone's toes. To be honest, my engine is not from VT, so it isn't like I am trying to start some "my motor is better" or anything like that. Mine is from Howell, so I'm 100% positive that you have a better motor than I do lol. Maybe it was just the way I read your original post, but it just seemed to me like you were inferring that bstockum does better work for a lower price, and I felt that I should point out that maybe that bold statement isn't entirely accurate emoji.

now this coming from somone who builds their own motors and also sells motors i would have a hard time choosing between bobs shop knowing his back ground and his perfession...

there are some goods and bads to both ways..

VT bad ass machines good reputation

they produce alot of motors can they afford to take the time and precision and TLC for every motor like bob or another smaller shop will? doubtful (i am in the local shop everyday and they produce 200 engines a day, not Huge but big enough) But the TLC like a smaller race shop would produce usually is better given that they are VERY GOOD at Building quality Parts....

now i know bob has a few machines at his place insluding a flow bench for porting but i beleive he uses a real machine shop with the same quality machines(or similar to vt machines) to do the bores and such...

Knowing that bob is a Robotic engineer and seeing the crazy prodjects hes done like his valve spring compressor i know vt doesn't have a robotic valve spring compressor (relovence absolelutly none in the convo just cool ass hell)

Now widebodied also didnt mention the fact that bobs motors all get baffled oil pans and windage trays he had custom made..

Bobs Port jobs are also very sick!

i have to work with ya matt on the coatings but to clear up ona normal forged rebuild ceramic wont produce any gains of power or signs its just an insurance factor(unless excessively boosted) BUT, Moly Coating Does produce gains and Does have a real good insurance factor i have seen the proof first hand with the moly coatings piston skirts wrist pin and bearings retreiving 5-15% of the normal lost power ina average motor..

cp vers JE and weisco id have to agree cp is a step above je but to who will take advantage of it not to many.. (nevertheless i really like cp pistons)

there are some processes that i know of that im highly doubting VT would do for these motors that can make good gains but they are trade marks that i plan to keep to myself unless u want to buy a block from me..(due to time comsuming processes that big shops cant afford )

so in other words i can think of good and bad things about going witha large shop like vt and going witha small shop like bob or myself...

this is not ment to be dirogitive or flaming anyone meant for infromation

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.

"they produce alot of motors can they afford to take the time and precision and TLC for every motor like bob or another smaller shop will? doubtful (i am in the local shop everyday and they produce 200 engines a day, not Huge but big enough) But the TLC like a smaller race shop would produce usually is better given that
they are VERY GOOD at Building quality Parts...."

VT does not build 100's of engines a day. They never will. They're engine developers, NOT a "machine shop" - What's the difference?

Machine shops pop out 100's of engines a day. They grind your crap, they bore it, hone and toss it together. They do shit by the book, they don't ask questions, and they aren't very intuitive about it. They just assemble the stuff. That's how they pop out 100's of
engines per day. They bore using bridgeports, because they're cheaper. They use a ball hone with a craftsman drill because it's easier. You're right Bill, big shops don't take their time. They'll hire any guy who still has ten fingers and can twist a dial to a mostly accurate measurement. "close enough" is good enough.

Engine developers? They make one-off engines. They're accurate to .0001". They use precision machines that cost 4 times the price of bridgeports. Their hone machine maps out the wall of the bore while it's honing to make sure the bore is still straight while it's honed. You can see the mapping on the machine, it's ridiculous. The people at an engine development shop have years of experience with many types of motors. You want a 1500 horse alcohol sand rail engine? They'll build it. You want a 75 horse shifter kart engine? They'll build that, too.

VT is by no means a machine shop. They're an engine developer. They don't pop out 100's of engines a day. They don't even pop out dozens of engines a day. Then you place an order with them or FTY, you're not just submitting your name to a queue in hopes that you'll get an engine that's close enough.

I'm not posting to try to start anything, either. I just thought I'd clear up any confusion with some information about what VT is.
