I reset my ecu today after fixing a leak in my fuel line only to have the car run even shittier than before.

Diagnostic: Car idles and revs fine. Taking off in first gear is fine, no hesitation or jerking at all. Second through fifth gear, major hesitation and jerking until 4k rpms. It feels like the car is misfiring heavily. At 4k rpms the car jumps and takes off as normal. What the hell could this be? Ive replaced plugs, wires, coil etc so it has to be something else. I dont have a cel at the moment, but before i did this work i had one for the egr system. Could the egr system cause hesitation at all?

Could be a bad crank or cam angle sensor. I would double check your fix first though.

*edit* a bad O2 or various other sensors could also be the culprit, did you have a CEL before you reset? if so what codes?

if your egr valve is stuck open it'll do that.

the fuel leak has been fixed, thats not the problem. The cam angle sensor was replaced a week ago. Im going to replace the egr valve with my old one tomorrow to see if that will work. Could the crank angle sensor be the culprit to all of this? thats the last sensor on the motor that needs to be replaced?
