#56957, "I think the Headgasket is gone. LOL"

Well, I was out racing some LT1 and while I was spraying I had a really loud backfire. That happened before without a prob but this time as soon as it happened I noticed the car sound deepened up in the exhaust. Sounded good but new it couldn't be good. Well anyways, today I get in my car and I notice it is really deep now. Sounds like a damn V8 and is sweet as shit but I noticed as I was driving that there was a smoke comin out my exhaust when I gave it gas. I took a look at it and it was a grayish color. I pulled the dip stick to look at the oil and it looked fine but the same smoke was comin out my dipstick. Ha. Headgasket right or could it be something else? This sucks but it's kind of funny in a sick way. LOL Thanks

You wont get a deep V8 sound by poping your headgasket. You probably just blew out an exhaust gasket somewhere. As for the smoke coming out of the dipstick, a small amount of this is normal if you dont have gapless rings. That is gas pressure escaping out the ring gaps and into the crankcase. If you have a fair amount of smoke, that is bad. 9 times out of 10 this is caused by a cracked piston ring land if you have stock pistons. If the ring land is still in tact, the motor will still run smooth (mine still ran with 3 cracked pistons), but DO NOT spray anymore if this is the case because you can break the land completely and score the hell out of your cylinder wall. You need to do a compression test to tell if this is the case or not. Based on your story, if you have stock pistons, im guessing that you have a busted piston, sorry emoji.
