#56780, "Headgasket Set Questions"

What are those 8 small rubber seals for?
What is that 5th large gasket for? (It's kind of fat and wide, and has a bunch bolt holes, it's not the intake/exhaust manifold gaskets, head, or valve cover gasket of course.

I'm gonna feel stupid if it's something dumb.

if the large gasket has square ports it's the gasket that goes between the upper and lower portion of the intake manifold assembly

the 8 rings are for the valve cover if I remember correctly

Did you order a set for a Dodge Neon? I too had a left over gasket and never found out where it went... I assumed it was for the Neon intake manifold.

yeah if you get a neon kit it will have an extra piece on the intake manifold gasket. its because the intake is on the front of the engine on a neon, so its for the coolant housing. the big one is for the upper to lower intake manifold plenum on the neon.

That's what I figured, I didn't take off my intake manifold when I removed my head because it didn't come with a upper to lower intake plenum gasket our engine.

Can someone confirm those 8 little rubber seals as the seals on the valve cover?

I'm pretty sure that's what they're for do0d. On your VC right now, they're all smashed flat-looking under the bolts that hold the VC on. emoji

I didn't use them. emoji

Now, did you get a little green rubber band looking thing with bumps on it in your kit? I did and wtf? You know? emoji

My smashed up seals were painted on the outside when my valve cover was powder coated, I think I need to put those new one into mine.

That little rubber band looking thing is for the camshaft position sensor, look inside the sensor and you will see exactly where it goes.

SWEET! Thank goodness it doesn't leak right now! I'll have it when I need it! (I've never been prepared for a problem like this before. It's a funny feeling) emoji
