On my way up to Norwalk, my car overheats in Delaware!!! I pulled off at a service station to cool off. The coolant reservoir was BOILING, and running off the hose. After the engine cooled a little, I topped off the radiator with water. It drove OK for about 10 miles, and the temp needle goes up. Again, I pulled off to cool off the engine.
Because I'm so pissed off, I turned around to go home. Somehow, the temp remained "normal" until I got to the Polaris exit, so I decided to head back up to Norwalk. I pulled over to the rest area to get some water. When I popped the hood, coolant was seeping out from under the reservoir cap and boiling. WTF!!! After the engine cooled a little, I head home. The water temp was normal until I got home. However, when I exited the highway, the water temp begins to rise to 3/4 hot and stayed there until I got home.
Things I've done or changed to remedy the problem: compression test--180 all 4 cyclinders (8.8:1 compression) replaced thermostat with 160 degree 30% coolant + bottle of wetter+ 70% water ghetto radiator cooling with washer/dryer flex hose "burped" the cooling system
On top of that, I called Amerihost about my saturday reservation, and they won't give me a break. I told them my car is down. They said, "no exceptions." So, I'm out $129 for a room that I'm not even staying in.
I am so frustrated, especially when I've planned for this weekend for 6 months!! Anyway, I hope you guys had a good time.
