Maybe a rod bearing? I searched and it seemed like that might be the cause.

JUst my 2 cents but smoke from your oild aint good, i had a rod earing go bad i could start the car but when i drove it, it sounded like shit, if your car isnt starting , sorry to say maybe your engine froze up due to a lack of oil, or because of a lack of oil pressure emoji emoji emoji emoji emoji emoji

well if u want to build it for turbo i have bottom end kits that are 1100$ shipped if u just want a stock rebuild your looking with machine work like 950-1200$ depending on shops in your area

that is with YOU pulling the motor yourself...

if u need advice or assistance feel free to call email or IM me..

i just came across some keith black hypertectic piston for a decent price that would be a pretty good choice for you...(unles u were going turbo of course)

Bill

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.
If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.

Hears a temp fix (actually its to tell if you spun a bearing or not). Change your oil to 4 quarts of 20W-50 grade and 1/2 a quart of Bardahl's "No-Smoke" additive (you can buy at WalMart for $2.50), with a new oil filter. The additive is thicker than honey. Drive it around for a day or two then check the oil. If its black, you spun a bearing, if not, you cracked a ring and/or blew a head gasket at the same time. The thick oil you'll be running will most likely stop the knocking sound and protect your engine better. So its a $9 fix!

Oh yeah it might just be simple as lack of oil pressure or oil like what rydereclipse said. Just try the $9 fix I told you about.

I got a crankshaft and bearings from this outfit names Standard Crankshaft Company. http://www.standardcrankshaft.com/index.html They sell crankshaft kits for our engine. The kit is a crankshaft and a set of matched bearings all ready to drop in. I got my kit for $150 after the core return. The dude wanted $200, but I gave him a bit of sticker shock and he lowered it to $148. The core charge was $30 or somewhere around there, and $15 shipping.

So since i have this spun bearing, does that mean i have to replace the pistons and stuff too?

No, just either do what Jim just said, or take your crank to a machine shop and have the crank ground. Then just put in oversize bearings. If you spun a rod bearing and not a main bearing, then your rod should still be fine as long as you haven't been driving it. If the rod is damaged, you can buy just one piston/rod (they come as a set), or you could have the damaged rod machined and use the proper oversize bearing.

The above suggestion with the thick oil and additive is not very intelligent. Definately don't do that.
