California is going to be tough with any mods, but it's somewhat mild grind, and if you had a set of cam gears you could tune them to be a little cleaner.

This is my guess, maybe somebody here has done it before. If all else fails you can swap cams in a day to take the test.

Smooth idle? We don't need no stinking smooth idle.

hmmm... if you had an AFC could you tune it excessively lean and have it pass? there wouldn't be much of a danger because they only do an idle check and then bring the car up to about 2500 rpm's or so...

You should look at some OEM cams for the 4G63 engine. NOS grinds are basically like turbo grinds, and if your worried about emmissions.. find out the oem cam specs for the turbo eclipse. Almost all cam companies will sell a mild street/strip turbo profile that will add 20 whp or so. Then another 30 when you have the cam's timing right.

Look at the other post on this board about Turbo Cam Gear Adjustments to help us determine the correct advance/retard for the cams.

oo.. and it goes vroom
