#55095, "need expert advice ASAP - leaking bedplate"

The GOOD news: I turn key, Daisy starts right up. No hesitation at all! We forgot the EGR tube, so she immediately revved straight for redline, but I caught it and shut her down.

The BAD news: I am oozing oil from the block-to-bedplate seam. The leak appears to be less than 1/2" wide and I get a constant drip of about 1 per 13 seconds. We have taken a break from the car this afternoon and are hoping the leak settles down in the next couple hours. If so, can we just use JB Weld?

How outrageously fucked am I on this one?

on the block to bedplate on the bottom, did you install the o-ring? there is a sorta small o-ring on the passengers side of it.

JB isn’t going to work. It may stop it for a few but it won’t last. Pull the dead plate off and re-seal it. Make sure you get a good bead w/ no breaks in it and torque to spec (all stuff you already know of course )

We may have to do that. Right now, she's curing the JB. We're gonna start her up in the morning. Hopefully it holds a while until we have the time to pull that ish off and start again. emoji

Unfortunately, we're out of time, money and patience at this point. emoji

I might just take it to a muffler shop and have them weld the fucker together. I am so tired of this project...

Owned it is. I had that smae problem after my rebuild. The dumbass that built my motor forgot the O-ring all together, as well as Anaerobic sealent on the bedplate. With the help of Jamesman and thedawg, the leak is gone (thus far). Dan accidentally used the Oring for the oilpump, which fit perfectly, and looks like it will seal better.

Only way to get rid of it is to pull it again, and make sure the sealent bead is consistent, and possibly used the larger pink O-ring.

Best of luck. I know how annoying a leak from there feels like. emoji
