ok.. coming home last night everything was fine until i missed 3rd. Dunno how that happened. kinda grinded 3rd for a sec. got to my local 7-11 to get a drink and car wont come out of gear. Clutch seems fine. Shifter is in neutral position, but the tranny is stuck in gear. Seems to be stuck in 4th or 5th. Leaving the shifter in neutral position, I can slip the clutch and the car will go forward, but with no torque at at.. Kinda feels like your trying to move in 5th gear. Dunno what happened. just went out on me. Any ideas?? Satan wants $400+ just to diagnose tht damn thing. Im thinking that maybe my shifter cables snapped, but I dont know. I can shift into 1st through 3rd, but nothing high than that with the clutch pushed to the floor. Oh. also, if I leave the shifter in neutral, the car moves forward, but if I put the shifter into 1st through 3rd position, the car wont budge at all.. so weird.. cant figure out for the life of me. Please help.

P.S.- sorry for the long post.

Probably siezed a gear. If you put it in reverse, does it feel like the trans locks up, and won't move at all?

Hey man the same thing happened to me. I dont know if this is the case but for me it was my linkages. The little clip came out and it costs like 3 dollars at the dealership. Mine was the one inside the car not the one above the tranny. Hope that helps if not sorry man.
Later,
DJTJ

I checked all the linkages.. everything looks fine. And yes, the car seizes up when I put it into reverse as well.. no gear position works. everything locks up except when I am in the neutral position, thats when the car will move.
