ok my car someimes stalls at idle and i have to press the gas for a couple min. to keep it on, and when i driving at any rpm it stalls and then immediatly turn back the rpm it was at. i checked the battery w/ a meter and its was fine. im thinking maybe the altinater but why would it stall and high rpm and turn back on. whenever i take my car to my mechanic all my problems w/ the car stop before he looks at it and he speaks only spanish and i dont. i want to find the answer b4 i bring it to him so he knows exactly what it is. please respond if you have any info.

First off, id go to a mechanic that speaks your language... are you getting any check engine lights? if its the Alt., it will most likely throw a code. it could possibly be your O2 sensor making the car hit "safe mode"(where it doesnt allow it to rev) momentarily. i guess we might need a little more info, like what exact RPM it happens at and such. www.TeamKLR.com 1997 Silver RS Wiseco 8.8:1 Pistons(back to low compression!) ok it might be my 02 sensor. there is no check engine light, and it can happen at any rpm between idle and redline. how mych would an o2 sensor cost and what does it usauly do when it goes in to "safe mode"

do a search for 02.... plenty of reads for it.
I changed my 02 last week, bought an OEM one from Bob Kise- Dodge dealership that hooks us up....tell them you're from ASOG/2GNT/Neon club or whatever they want to hear...it cost about 80 bucks. Bob's # is 810-714-3300. They are great people to deal with.
If you go with a non OEM- NGK and some others make them and they cost about 40 bucks at an autoparts store. reading past threads, i heard these do not last as long and some don't plug up directly and splicing of wires is involved. my oem one went for 90,xxx miles so I just got another oem and it plugged right in.
I had a bad idle problem as well and you might want to disassemble your TB and remove the IAC sensor and push the plunger in by hand. While you have the TB off, you might as well clean it.
It could be host of other things but you'll need a mechanic who speaks english to run a diagnostic on your car so you can pinpoint the problem.
Doing those above things really helped my car and it even drives a ton better. Good luck.

a tb is my lazy way (along with everyone else here...) for typing throttlebody. it's the metal contraption between your air intake hose/pipe and your intake manifold.
(sorry if you already know this part)...your throttle cable is attached to it and everytime you press the "GAS" when your driving, you're really just letting your car breathe air. you can find it by popping your hood- way back near the firewall, to the left of the windshield washer bottle.
you should buy proper tools and maybe a Chilton's manual before attempting to take anything apart. the visuals from the CHilton's will help a beginner. You'll need a basic ratchet/socket set and Torx drivers to get the TB and sensors off. I did a write up once...shit...let me find it...
