#54371, "About the JE pistons"

After doing some research on these I found that most parts suppliers only listed the pistons for the 4G63 motor. Do they use the same pistons on a rebuild in that case? I tried to look if Howell has part numbers on the site as to which they use but to no avail. I am thinking about piecing together my own 'rebuild' kit in the course of about a year. Not in any hurry, more of like a project I have been wanting to do. Already have a spare long block I want to take apart and learn a little bit more about it before buying a shit load of parts that I know nothing about. Just starting my search now. TIA.

Trevis.

it probably better if you looked for neon 420A pistons instead. its more common

There site's catalog is poor/out of date.

If you want a part number, best bet is to call one of their techs or sales reps and talk to them. They only list an 8.8:1 piston for the Neon, and they make standard 8.8:1, 10.5:1 and 12.5:1, and should be able to get you ratios in between.

Thanks for the help, I am wanting to stay as close the stock compression as possible. The engine I am working on will be boosted after the rebuild is done. Like I said, I am no hurry to finish it so money will not be a problem over the span of about a year or so.

If you're gonna rebuild for boost why stay at stock compression? Just a thought.

Well, from what I was always learned you generally do not want to raise your compression. Agreed, 8.x:1 would be nice to. Any more suggestions about the compression though?
