Ok guys 'n' gals. I'm kinda stuck. What do you think? Should I go with a turbo system on my talon ESi, or should I go with the custm paint, and body kit. Each have their merits, like having a killer looking machine, or a smokin' fast rice eater. I have the cash, I just need to decide. I change my mind every day, and it's driving me nutz! Maybe a few different view points would help. BTW, what's the difference between the different "stages" of turbo's? Like stage two, stage three etc. Thanx for all your help.DSM'ers KICK MAJOR ASS!!!!!!!!

best i can say is stage1=power stage2=more power stage3 well you get the point.if i was in the same situation i would go with the more power issue.if you can afford it go with an HRC stage 2 then with the rest of the money make the engine stronger, like rods, pistons, piston rings, wrist pins,cams,500 cc fuel injectors, ignition amplifier, some of these items come with the HRC stage three.for a price of $5300!basicly its a stage two with the other added parts makes it a stage three.heres more parts, adjustable camshaft sprockets, pulley kit,or go towards the suspension or both depending on amount of cash.clutch upgrades.etc,etc.try visiting http://www.turbosystem.com/Hahn_Automotive/Eclipse_Talon/eclipse_talon.html for more info!

i would also go with the turbo, make sure it's a stage 2 with a fmic not the smic. if you have some money left get a few other things like boost controller, timer, gauges, etc. then do the body. i wish i had the money to do it. as a matter of fact...feeling generous? emoji

Well like you said, "You'll be a killer LOOKING machine." and ONLY killer LOOKING. Personally, i'd get the Turbo kit because rice tastes pretty good, LOL!!!! Most people have more respect of cars that looks slow but blazingly fast. That's what a sleeper is all about. Anyway, it's not like our cars look bad. Hell the styling can still even, I personally think so, double as somes sort of prototype show car. Get the turbo, you won't be dissappointed.

like robotech said you wont be disappointed with a turbo, but you wont be disappointed with the other option either. the turbo will definately be much more of a headache and a problem than the body mods would be. personally id take care of the body first, thats what i did. its more satisfying and its also more visible to others than a turbo. but more importantly, if you dont even know the difference between the stages, chances are a turbo is too much for you now, wait till you know how everything works because im sure everyone would agree, its ALOT easier if YOU know whats on your own car. nothing wrong with not knowing, it would just cause more trouble

When are they gonna fix this shit?

I agree with Cyan here. A turbo can have a lot of probs come up along the way (ie. blowing up stuff), whereas body work is a lot easier to me at least. Most of the people on here are more into speed than show, but it's really up to you. You can't beat a custom paint job though. All the guys I talk to love the attention that their custom paint and body work brings. People notice looks more than speed. Unless you're a hard core racer, I'd do the body mods first. Look good going slow, since people won't even know how fast your car is anyways...

I like the sleeper look, stock lookin' RS/GS maybe lowered some rims, and something RICEY to entice the ignorant honduh driver into a race, then you humiliate the hell outta them with your tight azz turbocharged ride.

I'd go with the turbo.

wow...back and forth...back and fort emoji I think you should buy and sandwitch and save the rest.

But really, it's up to you. Just think about it more. A turbo WILL make you fast as hell!!! And people will be looking under your hood ALL the time after you beat them, and when you meet up with everyone Friday and Sat. night. The body kit and paint job will get people looking at you from far away and you will get a lot of a attention from EVERYONE...even the popo. But the turbo won't repell the cops eithe emoji Just think about it more...but I do agree with Cyan...if you want a turbo...do the research and lean about what your putting under your hood. If you don't...you WILL have problems.

GOOD LUCK!!!

if you're not versed in the ways of the turbo, don't go that route. spread your cash out, upgrade your suspension and the turns become all the more fun, you can pick up a blitz body kit for 500 bucks. then put the rest of the cash into engine mods...header/catback/intake/bored TB/udp/MSD/etc... so that by the time you're financially ready to put a turbo on, you should also know more about the motor and about the car in general.

knowledge is key.

That's some good advice koolaid9! I'm in the same boat and am doing some smaller mods that I know I can handle and working my way (also saving my way) to bigger and faster mods! \

I personally like the look of a "sleeper" car until it's got 200+hp, then I'd go with the body kits... by that's just my opinion...

i agree with cyan and koolade. don't mess around with something you don't understand. it could blow up in your face, well, under your hood at least. put most of that cash into engine mods. you won't get it up to the turbo kind of hp, but do like i'm doing, working and saving to get the highest hp of a non-turbo. i personally like body mods, AND going fast. but i also want to know what the hell is going on. and true, if you don't even know what the difference between the stages is (which i knew and i don't know CRAP about turbos) don't do it. also, regarding a full blitz body kit for $500, you don't HAVE to order it online or through mail order. check a local auto shop, i'm sure you could get one there for that price. maybe a little higher.

I already have the body kit siiting in my garage, but there's no way it's going on without paint, and to ensure a match on color, I'm getting the whole car done. I just don't have the money for both custom paint, and turbo, and I don't want to add a bunch of mods like headers, and CAI, if they are just going to be replaced when I add the turbo. It kinda seems like money down the drain to me...sort of. Whaddya think?

I hate cars with all the body kits and wings. I pulled up to this civic with all these stickers of companies,a wing, body kit, rims...he reved me up so I took him to school. I never want to be all show and no go...save some more money and do some reading about turbos, ask questions and talk to people with turbo kits and learn. Then go turbo...

somebody post the pic of that silver GS w/the shaved spoiler, five star 18", and blacked out everything.....

now that is f@#king smooth, and It cost him next to nothing...

if you've already got the body kit, you should be able to get just the kit painted the same color of your car. If a body shop says they can't, you're at the wrong body shop.

and even if you buy the header/catback/intake...you can just sell it all later when you buy the turbo.

also, if you just mod it little by little now, you'll appreciate the turbo soooo much more. I know I will.
