#53778, "Does your car not turn over sometimes?"

My car is just weird like that. Happen sometimes. Everything else would turn on, but then the car would not turn over. You see all the lights and radio turns on, but it just deosn't crank at all. If I hold the key down sometimes for about 2-3 seconds or just keep turningg the key, then it would start. Anyone else fixed this problem?

Yeah. I had that happen once. My OE battery crapped out on me after about 3 years and one day it just wouldn't do shit.

Say hello to my little friend bump.

Yeah, I have the same problem. I replaced the battery and alternator and still have the problem. There is no draw on the battery it always test perfect (and it should because it’s new)

I think it is the starter but I haven't had the time to get around to it.

I notice it more then the car is hot or if it is warm outside.

take it to AutoZone. They can test your alternator and battery. Have you tried push starting it when the starter craps out on you? If it wont turn over with the key and it will push start - get new starter. I would also think maybe a heat shield wrap for it while you're at it. Good luck...

same problem here...just on very hot days...90*+, tried a heat-shield type product from DEI...and I took it off because it still did it a few times...I did however change my thermostat and added fresh coolant...seemed to have fixed it so far, but it's been outta commission with a fuel pump change! Damn Walbro 255 is a little hard when those fuel lines don't come off!!!

o.k., I was out driving around (with the back seat off and the cover to the fuel pump housing off)...making sure there were no fuel leaks from my install...when I couldn't get the car to start up! Checked for fuel leaks...NONE!!!...touched the top of the fuel pump housing...BURNED MY LITTLE FINGER!!!...and after it cooled off some, it started up fine...could this be the problem for us all???

yeah V,
take it to autozone to get a free battery/alternator/starter test. Cause mine was doing that for a week and all of a sudden my battery died. I had to go out and buy a $100 Optima Red Top :x

It's probably just the ignition relay.

Next time its hot and it won't start, trace the solinoid wire off the starter, find the spade conenctor in it (near the ecu, but lower), and make a jumper cable from it. Tap the jumper on that positive terminal. Car crank? suspect the relay.
