#53648, "cel on and heater won't work...help me out please"
so i was driving home friday night nice and normal, not trying to race or drive hard. Temp. gauge was normal and all of a sudden the CEL came on. I then tried to put my defroster on and no hot air came out, only cold, so i tried the front vents and floor, no hot air at all. When i got home i tried to get a code from the engine. nothing happening, CEL turns off and doesn't come back on until car is actually running. Checked plugs, all radiator components, electrical connections, battery, all belts are o.k., only other thing i found wrong was that the car idles a little lumpier than it did before, but it always had a pretty lumpy idle. Dunno what to do next, any thoughts or suggestions? I would appreciate the help. thanks -Scott

i had that same no hot air prob. but my temp gauge was slammed to the top. dunno. i just filled my radiator with water.... i was really low. try flushing out your radiator. you need to do it more than once cuz it takes a few times to get all the gunk out. then fill it with water and antifreeze. pull the radiator cap off your car and start it up. after a while when the car gets warm, it will open the thermostat right where the cap was. if it is working, you'll be able to see it flowing water through there.. if it doesn't come on and your temp gauge goes up, your thermostat is bad... but if that never happens i dunno.
Having Problems? Heres my Three step solution to anything 2gnt related. Step 1: Put down everything in your hands. Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it. Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you.
