#53561, "cat convertor to cat-back bolts are stripped!!"

I took my car to meineke since the bolts were horrible rusted on, and after getting underneath my car to fix an exhaust leak, i notice that it was cuz the bolts were stripped and the two flanged can't be tightened all the way. Right now I replaced the gasket and used some gasket sealant to try to create a fix, but i know it's gonna be temporary.

Is there solution other then replacing the cat?

I was thinking about drilling out the bolts and replacing them with new bolts and nuts. But before I did that, anyone have another solution that might be easier?

tia. Meineke pisses me off, i'm about to right corporate headquarters a letter.

Just have them use a plasma torch to melt through the old stud, and use a nut and bolt combo. That's what my test pipe, er, um, I mean cat, uses. emoji
