#53554, "what next?"

OK... I'm yet again bored and feel like spending money on my car. Seems to happen every time I have a good week selling at RadioShack. I don't want a fart-can exhaust, there's too many of those damn things around town. Mostly civics, and I think a saturn or some hunk of crap that sounds so loud and obnoxious I laughed. and one eclipse which I don't like the sound of the exhaust it has.
So... I have the intake, the exhaust isn't a large interest unless the silencers actually make the exhaust non fartcan. The question becomes should I go for underdrive pulleys, an AFC or the cams/cam gear thing.
Secondly, these're probably not something I can do myself, being much more of a computer geek than car geek and all... hell, I'm not even 100% sure what an UDP kit is. am I just going to swap the crankshaft pulley and get new belts? as for the cams, forget it, I'd take that to a shop.
only gripes I have with the SAFC is the bulky size of that control panel, where I'd put that thing, and furthermore I'd likely blow the engine.
basically, my large concern is getting to work every day, secondly getting annoying people off my tail on the ride home through ~gridlocked construction. emoji

Underdrive pulley. It's made out of aluminum and it's much lighter than the stock crankshaft pulley. The pulley itself is smaller in diameter, which basically means that the engine doesn't have to work as hard to drive the accessories(ps, A/C). It gave me a noticable gain. I think it's a good mod. It's not that difficult to install - it should only take around 1/2 to 1 hour at a shop.

Cams'll give you a good gain for sure. A pair should cost somewhere in the $400-500 range. Take it to a shop and the cost should be comparable to a timing belt job - somewhere in the $400 range. Cams will give a good gain. Also, "airflow" mods(intake, TB, manifold, turbo, nitrous, compression ratio, header, exhaust) will benifit from performance cams. For instance with performance cams you'll get more of a gain with an upgraded TB than you would have if you didn't have performance cams. It's more of an investment mod but not just financially, its also an investment in future power output.

I would go with the UDP pulley and the 60mm tb...both of those will give you noticeable gains..and total cost should be about $400...UDP install would be cheap and honestly with all the aggravation I went through -- its worth the $60 to have someone else do it.

TB -- if you can turn a wrench and a screw driver you can figure this one out.

On a side note -- getting people off your tail... have a funny story on that one..back when i had my eclipse i was driving home doing about 80 or so and this saturn keeps jumping in front of me... slowing me down and then pulling to the right -- then jumping back in front of me.. so essentially to him it feels as if I am tailgating. Well he flicks me off and his friend waves bye - bye.. I drop it in 4th and proceed to stay right on top of him all the way up to 110 ... hehe... did he really think he was gonna walk away from me in a saturn sedan??? It was funnier than all hell.

Anyways...have fun.

2003 VW GTI 1.8t.. I used to have a 95 Eclipse but well...water sucks.
