Well... my car had what I'd call a "nervous breakdown" about two weeks ago, starting off with a check engine light... translated to "running lean." This progressed into a general failure to start, relays making odd clicking noises. Voltmeter read normally, but I gave the battery a charge for the hell of it, didn't help. Then the car just wouldn't start at all, nothing happening when I turned the key. Major electrical problem. Baaaad pie.

Towed it to Bayside Transmissions, a shop which I've referred others to, but have never used myself. Jeremy called me the very next day, grounding strap was loose! Relieved, but pissed. Body shop may have been poking around where they shouldnt've. But MetalJim tells me this is a common problem in cars of this vintage...

Now is the time to replace all these grounding straps, ensure that they're solid. Hard to believe that a few wires can bring an entire engine to it's knees.

So what I need is a diagram showing the locations of all these straps so I can install an aftermarket ground wire kit. Does anyone have one?

I downloaded manufacturer's manuals for both the 4th gen Camaro and 5th gen Firebird... (Provided by a forummer...) is there such a document going around the internet for free? Or do I have to buy the manual cd? emoji

some guy named 'ryan-something' (can't remember his s.n.) was making some and selling them in the G.B. section for like $45 or so shipped, and there is a little ongoing thread that may provide you with some (if not all, I'm not sure of all of them) of the grounding points...it was in this section...should be close to the top...

EDIT: it was called...Ground Wires Installed (or something close to it)
