I recently put together a stud kit using all shiny stainless 18-8 studs/washers/nuts. It looks great. All of the parts can be bought online at McMaster Carr - http://www.mcmaster.com/

Exhaust studs 8 Metric 18-8 Stainless Steel Full Thread Stud M8 Size, 40mm Length, 1.25mm Pitch Part# 93805A359 Price $10.40
Exhaust washers 100 pack of Metric 18-8 Stainless Steel Washer - DIN 125 M8 Bolt, 8.4mm ID, 16mm OD, 1.4mm Min Thickness Part# 93475A270 Price $3.38
Exhaust nuts 50 pack of Metric 18-8 Stainless Steel Hex Nut M8 Screw Size, 1.25mm Pitch, 13mm Width, 6.5mm H Part# 91828A410 Price $4.41
Moly lube Standard Moly Antiseize Lubricant 10 Ounce Brush-Top Can Part# 1279K32 Price $11.51

I think I went a little overboard on the moly lube with the 10 ounce can - that can should last me the rest of my life. They sell a 3 ounce container of the same stuff for $6.81 Part #1279K31. I think a 3 ounce container would probably have lasted me the rest of my lifetime - that shit is light.

The studs are 40mm long and threaded all the way. Lube em, finger tighten them in, and you're good to go. I've got them holding up a Bosal header with a HUGE flange on it. It looks real good.

Yeah you can get some ARP ones.

I don't even remember what or where I got them, but I have all studs, with stainless steelwasher (flat and the crush locking type) and stainless steel nuts. Looks good... now it's the header that looks bad...

Try to pick up studs that have a torq bit or something on the end so you can thread them in and out with a wrench instead of playing the doubling up two nuts game (that sounds REALLY bad).

Bill

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.

Yeah Bill, I've got them installed already. I've been running them for a week or so now. I usually take pictures of the shit I do, but for some reason I didn't with these exhaust studs.

I left the 2 original studs in place cause I didn't feel like dicking with them at the time. I really wanted to get the header on, so I only replaced the bolts with studs. The original studs are actually just a tad bit longer - probably 45mm. This header has a HUGE 1/2 inch flange on it - in comparison the turbo manifold I have has a 5/16" flange on it. Only a couple of the nuts have a half turn left in them, the rest are pretty much flush with the top, so they should be plenty long for my turbo manifold.
