How in the world am I supposed to get this thing off? Its the onlt thing holding my back from getting my timing belt off, and finishing my HG replacement. Is there a way around it? It's on there with a lot of loc-tite. I even got my friend's compressor and air tools, and it was STILL on there too tight. I need some freakin help.

I wish I had pictures to make this easier. First you gotta loosen the bottom bolt holding the alternator to the bracket. Just give it a couple turns to loosen it up. Then stand up and look down at the alternator from the engine bay... there's another bolt holding the alternator to the bracket facing the wheel well. There's not much space to work in there. Loosen it up, then go back under the car, behind the alternator, facing the firewall there's another bolt. This is the adjustment bolt. Turn it counterclockwise and you'll notice the belt start getting some slack. Keep turning it until you can get the belt outta there.

well i found the adjustment bolt, and it's the one that that show in the manual. i wanna say its a 15 mm bolt. I have tried everything possible, but it wont loosen. Not even with the air ratchet thingy.

ok, ur doing it backwards. There is an adjuster lock bolt that can be seen from the top of the car. Look down through your engine bay to where the alternator is and you should see the bolt from the top and it goes through the mounting bracket. Loosen it first, try your best. once it is loosened then you can get under the car and loosen the adjuster bolt all the way and it will come right out. The adjuster lock bolt keeps the adjuster bolt from coming loose and keeps your belts tight. hope that helps some...also, use some liquid wrench if it is still on too tight.

Haha, now I get it. Wow, I'm retarded. Thanks amn. Now I just gotta find a way to get that bolt from up top. That damn Chilton's manual was wrong twice. It said to get the adjustment bolt first. Thanks again.
