Even if you can get the injectors to work without burning up your injector drivers, there is no way yuou can tune down 450's without a good adjustable fuel pressure regulator and/or an afc.

However, feel free to prove me wrong. I like innovation.

Well, the Hahn kit includes a FPR (of sorts), so you should be all set. Just need to get a resistor pack to make the injectors not melt the ECU.

Yeah the cartech should be able to get you a low enough base fuel pressure for idle.

Now my question is, what stage are you buying that you want 450cc injectors? And what is the build status of your engine?

The DSM injectors run hotter. I run them in my track car but I wouldn't with a daily driver. The DSM 450s are good injectors. You can run them without an AFC but trust me, you don't want to!

We all know you can run the afc +-50 in eitther direction, so even at -50 on the low curve seems to me you could get them down to a nice idle and definetly have enough fuel for plenty of power. The question still remains, has anyone on this board setup the 450cc low imp turbo injectors on the 420A? If so please share the expeirence with us and let us in on the resistor deal. If a stock resistor pack will cut the ohms down to an exceptable level 2-3 ohms then you would be fine. I am not an electrical engineer but I am sure there is some type of calculation to figure the resistor size to drop the ohms from 16-18 to 2-3. Not to mention the fact the turbo injctors are peak and hold and the n/a uses a saturated type, not sure the ECU can compensate fuel that way, who knows right?

I would definetly not try this without some type of fuel managment. Either a safc or sfmu+afpr will do the trick. The stock turbo intank pump and a 10ga rewire should push enough fuel for the stock internals on boost. emoji

Just need to find out if anyone out there has used the 450cc injectors on a 420A turbo setup allready, if not I am about to throw a 14b on the daily 95 RS and rig the wastegate for 5-6 psi. Gonna run stock fuel with a safc, a boost and egt guage. Should be fine with the stock map. Gonna use the 2g smic and 2.5" mandrel DP. I have another 1g awd that has been my baby for a long time and have a ton of parts and shit lying around so i figure what the hell. It won't be a monster but it will be turbocharged and more fun than it is right now. I will keep you guys informed of the project. After the install and the track visit I will share all the pics and the info.

A little n/a history for ya!

I just dropped a 97 gs engine in it last month, it had 60k on it, the original had 136k the valve guides were so bad it smoked it's ass off, then some dumbass at quicklube stripped the oil pan bolt when tightening it and it fell outin traffic that afternoon and all the oil drianed out. You know it the rod bearings were going fast and i figured she was ready for a new motor or a rebuild anyway so i pushed it till it died emoji

I coasted it off the freeway and parked it. I went back like three hours after leaving it with the truck to pull it home and it started right up knocking it's ass off though. I checked the oil, none, oh shit no wonder, looked under the car, holy shit no bolt. I gug around in the hatch and found a bolt that half ass went in. Like any dedicated DSMer I have all kinds of shit in my car, it's a DSM for gods sake! I put the bolt in just snug didn't want strip the half assed threads the bolt cut while going in. Poured three quarts of oil in it (all I had on hand) and started it up drove it home like 10 miles away and by the time I pulled in the driveway it was banging it's ass off.

New motor went in the following weekend! Nice to have my econo 2g girlie car back!

Sorry so long just and old turbo 1GAWD freak dipping my fooot in the N/A pool. Don't get me wrong the n/a looks good and gets me to and from but afte the boost bug you just have to turbo evrything you own.

I'll see you guys on the board!

get a vortech. the cartech that comes with the kit is far to irratic to try to use those. every time you start the car up the pressure is different.

Howdy,

As some of you may know, I am running DSM 450CC injectors in my 99 RS.

It has a totally custom turbo kit heres the short list:

Custom manifold
Big 16G turbo (ported)
Custom downpipe, utilizing the stock dowbpipe, without any cutting!
Walbro 255 HP
1G 450CC DSM injetors
Custom resistor pack, using 50W resistors
Super-AFC
Cartech FMU (Modified)
2G BOV (Modified to prevent boost leak)
Custom FCD (Limits MAP output to 4.55V
Custom Intercooler piping
1G side mount intercooler (modified)

|Thats about all I can think of right now...

The car is off the road this weekend whil I replace the stock pistons with some Custom Wiseco 8.5:1 pistons (Stock bore) that I got from the good guys at BlackDog Motorsport (I highly recommend these guys).

If anyone has any questions about the injectors or any of the other parts of my setup... just ask.

Lee.

Check the turbo forum for turbo-related questions, like this one:
http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=8&topic_id=51621

Quite honestly, I'd say keep your stock injectors, and boost *under* 8psi until you can afford:
Vortech SFMU ($250ish)
Ford 42lb (440cc) injectors ($150 for all 4)
Apexi SAFC (optional- $200)

You're looking at $600 max, a very small amount compared to your engine and turbo investment... not worth risking them over.

If you're goood at tuning the SFMU, you can run 440's without an AFC, but having one makes it a million times easier.

The only time DSM 450's are worth the trouble is when you can get them and the resistor pack for under $20 or so.
