#52449, "Update on the Hydrolock"

Okay guys...

Here is the situation... the mechanic just called -- apparently on top of hydrolocking the car -- my timing belt skipped -- so its more than likely I crashed my valves into my pistons.

Second problem... it would cost about 500 to change the timing belt to find out if the pistons and valves are crashed -- afterwhich they would need to determine whether or not the car has bent some rods... there is water everywhere.

So the mechanic is recommending that the car be totaled.

Well, this is probably the end for me and 2gnt... I'll try to pull as many of the parts off the car as i can before they take it from me.

I now just need to figure out what I want to have next.

So everyone cross your fingers that the insurance company is actually fair to me with what they offer me for the car.

That being said.. if anyone wants the rims you see in the picture -- and you are close enough to Northern Jersey to come get em, and have set you can put on the car in exchange (some steelies perhaps) -- I'd recommend you contact me ASAP -- I have a set of tires waiting to be installed (brand new Kuhmo Ecsta 711s) sitting at an installer in the nearby area -- so of course those would go with the rims... the price for all of this. $650. The wheels are in great shape of course.

All other parts -- contact me.

You could total it and then buy the car back from the insurance company, then use the leftover money to buy yerself a new badass motor and drop it in... Where do you live at by the way?

Ouch, sorry to hear that man. I doubt that a rod bend, valves sure, but I'd be very surprised if you bend a rod.

Why not take an insurance check if they don't total it and do more of the work yoruself. Pull it tear it down and then have a machine shop do the work. You should make out in the end.
