As said above, how do I know if I have a defective HG? Like if its cracked and what not. Cuz I've been reading posts and most of the time, people with overheating problems mention the HG problem. I seem to be having overheating problems too, like when I stomp on the gas and do some spirited runs. Temp gauge is like 3/4 all the way up. So what else can I do to eliminate other causes of this overheating?

I would defintely check out the temp sensor and thermostat b4 you go to the head gasket. What does your coolant look like? Can you smell coolant in the exhaust? I wouldn't go about trying to fix the problem with like water wetter or something, until you find out what the cause is.
I think alotta peeps say they can see coolant in the oil, or oil in the coolant if they have a leaky HG, but I don't know how obvious it is.

Here's a list of possible symptoms, it all depends on what part(s) of the head gasket fails. - coolant and oil mix. - coolant or oil leaking out of the block - cooloant or oil leaking into compustion chamber and being burned off (coolants smokes white, oil a blueish white) - Loss in compression.
You can have one or multiple symptoms when it goes.

Ok, cool. Next question, where do I look for this mixing of oil and coolant? In the coolant overflow? So far, I don't think I have any of the symptoms that Michael said. Haven't checked compression yet tho. But I don't have any of that bluish/whitish smoke tho. No visible leaks either, ie when I park my car in my garage and leave the next day, no puddles or marks anywhere. I also don't smell anything. So, I'm guessing it must be the temp sensor then or prolly I just need to do a radiator flush. Wacha guys think?

I would check the thermostat first. Usually when coolant gets in the oil, your oil will look funny when you change it. It will have a frothy look to it from being mixed up by the crank. You should check your compression as well.
Also, when the car is at 3/4 way up on the temp gauge, listen to see if you can hear the fan blowing air on the radiator. If you cant hear it then you either need a new fan, or a new coolant temp switch for your fan (located on the thermostat housing... its the sensor on the top, not the single pin one on bottom). If the fan works fine, you could try replacing the sensor under it (single pin one). That one is the sending unit for the gauge. I had problems with that one and the symptoms that I had are similar to the ones you describe. If that's the case, then you aren't really overheating, the gauge is just reading wrong due to the malfunctioning sending unit.
